snow plowing prices
« on: November 06, 2008, 04:08:37 PM »
Anyone out there do snow plowing?  This year I am going to plow and dont know what to charge.  I have a plow truck, skid loader and a backhoe.  I was offered $80 per hour to plow for a building mant. company, using my plow truck or skid loader.  Is that reasonable or should I try to get some contracts of my own?  Any advice would be great, thanks.

If you want to get in the door, possibly ? we charged $50 or so just to make a few passes on a short driveway. a couple of those is well more than that hourly rate. also,, the more snow,, the harder it is on the equipment. up to 4" was one rate, 6" was another and above 8" the price went WAY up. i would make sure they don't expect to pay $80/hour for the truck, skid loader and backhoe if a blizzard hit's. each one should be seperate, as well as salt and spreading if you do that also, and any other extra's if needed.

measure the lot size or guestimate it. then call another place locally and have them give an estimate. you don't need to tell them who or where, just that it's a commercial lot in "anytown".

Matt pretty much said it all. Deep snow and salt are very very expensive. You may need your backhoe for deep snow...

80 is pretty good price, i've seen some guys charge 90 an hour, just to plow and that is 1 man, 1 truck, no salt, no shoveling. Add money for salt, a man for shoveling, 2nd piece of equipment costs... it goes on and on.
I run my mouth, wanna fight about it?
